During the period 2011-2018, Blue Peace Middle East focused on promoting a regional vision of water management and cooperation by establishing a Blue Peace community in the Middle East made up of senior policy makers, government officials, academic and technical experts, parlementarians and media professionals.
Members participated in international conferences on water cooperation and peace in Amman (2013, 2015) and Stockholm (2018), as well as a Blue Peace ME Media Conference in Istanbul in 2013. Two high-level fora were also organised in Istanbul (2014) and Geneva (2015).
In addition, the Blue Peace Middle East community embarked on a number of study tours to regional basins around the world to learn about successful models for transboundary water resources management in the Rhine River Basin (Switzerland, Germany – 2013), the Mekong River Basin (Cambodia, Laos – 2014), the Senegal River Basin (Senegal – 2015) and the Nile River Basin (Uganda, 2016).
